Homemade Vinegar

Step 1 - Pineapples in a food grade bucket
I recently read about making homemade vinegar in a copy of Backwoodsman Magazine. It described using 5 apple peels and cores to create it so I thought that since we have an abundance of fresh pineapples that I would try to make it from that.

Ingredients:

Peels from 3 pineapples
2 quarts of water
1 cup of sugar

Step 1 is to add the pineapple peels and cores to a clean food grade bucket. We got our bucket from Wal-Mart. It was an old icing bucket from the bakery section that they gave us.

Step 2 is to add 2 quarts of water to the bucket. I used a quart mason jar and just filled it up twice.
Step 2 - Add 2 quarts of water (1 quart is shown)

Step 3 was to add 1 cup of sugar to the mixture on in the bucket.

For the next step, just cover it with plastic wrap for 2 days

Finally, we'll age the vinegar in jugs for 2 weeks.

When we get to the final step, I'll take a picture and post what it looks like and see how it turns out.
