Our First Banana Bread

Here is a post about our first banana bread. We made it February 6, 2011 and posted it previously on our old blog. It was so good that I want to post it here to share.

It started when one morning, I noticed that we had 5 bananas that were past their prime as far as our kids were concerned, so I decided to make banana bread out of them.

I came across this recipe from the Homestead Apprentice that looked good, so we decided to give it a try. We did modify it a bit, but not too much.

Super Quick and Easy Banana Bread
3-4 ripe bananas
1/4 cup melted butter
3/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 350F. Mash the bananas in a bowl. Add all the remaing ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon. Bake in a buttered loaf pan until a toothpick stuck into the bread comes out clean, 55 to 60 minutes. Slice and serve.

If you look closely on the picture below, you can see the steam coming from the freshly sliced bread.
